📬✨ Our 2nd and 3rd graders put their social studies learning into action by writing letters to Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer!

Throughout the year, students learned about Michigan’s geography, environment, and important issues facing our state. Many chose to write about Pipeline 5 and its location beneath the Mackinac Straits, sharing their thoughts and concerns about protecting Michigan’s natural resources. 🌊🌲

Students also wrote about what they love most about Michigan and suggested changes they’d like to see. A common theme was keeping our state beautiful by reducing litter and creating stronger consequences for those who pollute our environment. ♻️💚

We were excited to receive a response from Governor Whitmer thanking our students for their thoughtful letters and encouraging them to continue advocating for the issues that matter to them. Seeing our students use their voices to make a difference is something we’re incredibly proud of! 👏📚
